Change Your Thinking!
Reasoning is the power of the mind to think, understand, and form judgements by the process of logic. God created us as intelligent beings and gave us the free will to make the choice of surrendering our lives onto Him or not. Elijah asked the people of Israel in 1 Kings 18:21 – How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, follow him. If you read the story, you know that Elijah proved that God is Lord by the many mighty miracles he perform in the name of God. Prolonged reasoning is the enemy to our faith. It is the enemy of obtaining the promises from the written word of God. It can also be the cause of the delay of fulfilling your purposes and dreams. We are born into this world at a disadvantage; we are born into a sinful world with a sinful nature imbedded into our mind and hearts. Repentance and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal savior cleanses us from our sins and starts us on the path of a new beginning and hope. Our new blood bought identity comes with a manual called the bible. John 1:1 is one of my favorite scriptures in the bible. It explains the power of the word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Verse 14 says and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. When I surrendered my life to the Lord, I thought that if the Word is Jesus I wanted more and so I read more. It transformed my life. The word of God is a spiritual computer virus that can break the hard coded programming of this world. The word washed and renewed my mind. It is the truth. I started telling everyone. I started seeing miracles. Things that I could not do, I could somehow do with new founded faith in scriptures and in God. The manifestation of the word became real in my life. When you think that all is well, life happens and reasoning rears its ugly head. If you are not reading the scriptures to battle the thoughts in your head. It is almost difficult to win. Proverb 6:8-11 says it best, A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep, So, shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man. Trials and tribulations are going to come to everyone. Failure and loss will happen. Life’s cyclical events map out a poignant reminder of the passing of time, which encase memories of good times and bad. Expressions of the unavoidable occurrence described best in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die: A time to plant, An a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones, A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love; And a time to hate; A time of war, A time of war, And a time of peace. After years of seeing the move of God in my life. We lost everything. We lost our home, rental properties, jobs and business. I begin to analyzing everything. Even though I continued to pray, fast and read the word of God, we continue to spiral down what seem to be a never-ending tunnel. In 2014 my husband and I were at the backend of what we called the season of hell in our lives. My husband got a contract position in New York for two months. One day he got a call for a permanent position in Houston and flew back with very little money. After his interview, I immediately called him to see how it went. He didn’t sound excited, and I instantly came to the conclusion that he didn’t get it. I was very upset. We were living in a hotel and I sat on the bed and thought every negative thought my mind could hold. Our thoughts can be so deceitful. I didn’t turn to the word or prayer just defeat. It was a false sense of comfort that if you are not careful, it can suck you in for years. In the middle of crying and complaining to God, He interrupt me, clear as day and said, “Change Your Thinking.” I immediately called my husband and told him that God said to change our thinking. We had to fight against unbelief and the negative thoughts of despair. I had to say the opposite of what I was feeling. I told him he had the job. We had to believe. Only believe, without exceptions. He got the job, we moved back to Houston and two months later, I got a position. I prayed repeatedly for more faith but one day the Lord spoke to me that I had faith, but I need to remove doubt. Looking back, I can honestly say that we took our eyes and trust off God and began to lean unto our own understanding. We made our circumstances bigger than God. One of the scriptures that I meditated on was in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5- For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. I had to fight to get back to faith, without the hindering power of doubt, which hung as a noose around my neck. The war was in my mind the answer was in the word of God. My thoughts, my actions had to bow down and surrender to Jesus and the word of God. The years went by and the regained faith acquired led us to walk by faith to San Diego by the leading of the Holy Spirit. God said for us to go, we had no jobs or much money. I picked up my abandoned purpose, dreams and began to walk by faith. The move was the biggest comeback of our life. The lesson learned, I know this will sound cheezy, but it was priceless. The Word of God trumps and is the answer to any circumstances or problems you think that you may have. STOP right now, get into the passenger seat and let Him drive.
